CRT's are superior! +Modeling contest info

Sat Jul 12, 2008, 3:09 AM
Well that is what I'm beginning to think
after this little problem I have with the LCD monitor on the computer I'm using.

Here's the thing, the colors of the artwork I make on the LCD becomes really dark when I view it on my CRT monitor. Does this have anything to do with the calibration of the LCD one? If so, can anyone here recommend any good calibration tool for LCD
monitors? My monitor is seriously messing up the colours on my works. It would be great if you can offer tips on how to adjust the colour settings of the monitor as well. (Gamma/brightness/contrast and all that)
I'll give :cookie:'s to anyone eager enough to help.:D

could be your crt monitor that's screwing up XD well, I think they have some calibration software available for download, I also saw this calibration device down in quiapo except I'm a bit wary of the price.

Yup, CRT monitors are much superior than LCD, no doubt about it, specially if you are a colorist ;) it's really a big deal ^^;... (yup, its true that there is a big difference in quality)

Actually I'm using a LCD right now... but b4, I'm using a dual monitor, both CRT and LCD, that's before my CRT die on me ^^;hehe ... I manage to config the calibration of my LCD monitor almost like my CRT monitor...

Try this: You can use your VideoCard features (If you have one)
I’m using a G-Force 7300GT NVIDIA graphic card and I calibrate my monitor using its features (color correction) ^^;

Yup, that's what I've observed with flatscreen monitors too. I don't know if there's a way to calibrate that stuff, but still, I would settle for CRTs. The images are crisper, clearer, and normal.

You LCD wasn't expensive enough :|

Actually calibration has everything to do with it. There's a tool called Spyder that helps you properly calibrate a monitor, be it CRT or LCD. I haven't played with it yet due to being poor, but maybe you can check it out. There's different versions for different prices.

I would agree with the post above try a ColorVision Spyder. I own a Spyder and I have a Samsung SyncMaster 931c LCD monitor. The monitor was touted to have 97% color gamut so I prob have a slight advantage over other LCDs in color display though. The Spyder is the way to go, it does a damn solid job calibrating this thing and I've been quite happy with the results. It's also very easy to use. I will concur I feel CRTs are still king overall LCDs are catching up and set up I have now is quite good. Hope this helps :)

same problem here kuya!, like i said before, patay ako dahil sa lcd ko, and i usually check my works on the other pc, ung crt, but now i think you could use a spider(c), ung i stu-stuck mo sa iyong lcd, then it will calibrate itself, it has a lot of color profiles to choose from and sure na same rin ung labas nyang color sa crt and wherever u view your works at, kaso it comes with a hefty price tag

on another note, the gamma of CRT monitors tend to become darker... usually if it's old. nangyari sa akin dati... nung tiningnan ko sa net cafe yung solid black sa monitor, hindi pala... :(

there are places i have to be, but i'm still waiting for my imagination to catch up...
